Silent films have a poor survival rate. And when we do get them in whatever form, they are usually badly in need of a restoration. Keystones in particular have suffered, as they were played to the bitter end in the silent era. Many say seeing what is usually presented as a Keystone, vs a restored Keystone is like an entirely new film.
Flickery Alley and CineMuseum have teamed up to do a multi blu ray release of completely restored and digitally remastered Keystone films as the “Sennett Collection”. Volume 1 has just been released. Its $59.95 on Amazon, but $39.95 on Flicker Alley’s site. There will be more releases, but this first set has 50 films, including several Mabel ones:
Mabel Films on “Mack Sennett Collection Vol 1”
3 A DASH THROUGH THE CLOUDS
4 THE WATER NYMPH
5 A GROCERY CLERK’S ROMANCE
7 BANGVILLE POLICE
9 THE SPEED KINGS
21 FATTY AND MABEL ADRIFT
31 THE EXTRA GIRL (FEATURE)
(plus a biography and news reel of the dedication of the Mabel Normand soundstage)
Info Stats for the release:

The Extra Girl is of note because it has never been released fully cleaned up. I know they’re working on Mickey, here’s hoping they are also working on Molly O.
Worth the money! These films are a must for any serious silent film fan, and its the best way to see Mabel in her full glory. When the future volumes are released we will update which films are on there.
